Joining with Aus Air Services for Christmas

Teaming up with Aus Air Services to combine our Christmas Party efforts
Teaming up with Aus Air Services to combine our Christmas Party efforts
We teamed up with Aus Air Services at Tooradin Airport to combine our respective Christmas Parties on December 17th. The skies were clear and the conditions were great for flying, resulting in a good turn out of PCDU listeners, local pilots and visitors.

In addition to the mobile studio, we also recorded with a number of live guests, demonstrated a UAV camera system and broadcast audio from an aerobatic flight.

All up it was a great success and a wonderful example of using Southern Skies Online Media’s remote broadcast crew & equipment to enhance an aviation event.

Appearing on Al Jazeera about the Qantas Grounding

Grant was invited to appear on Al Jazeera’s English channel to briefly discuss the current Qantas grounding.

Here’s the video of the discussion recorded with Grant in the Southern Skies Online Media studio.

Our thanks go to Al Jazeera for providing us with this copy of the discussion and allowing us to display it.

We’ve got a Mobile Studio

The PCDU team at Coldstream
The PCDU team at Coldstream
In addition to our usual in-house studio, we’ve set up a mobile studio that lets our team produce our content while out in the real world. We can record a show, provide a live PA and even stream it all onto the Internet while onsite at events.

The PA system can run from a couple of small speakers in a hangar to a full airshow flight line and our equipment lets us record with multiple guests as well as play pre-recorded content.

If you’d like to have us attend your next aviation event, call Grant on 0422 914 949 or email us at contact@planecrazydownunder.com

PCDU Joins the LifeStyle PodNetwork

We are pleased to announce that James Williams & Dave Gray from the LifeStyle PodNetwork have invited the Plane Crazy Down Under podcast to join Australia’s global podcast network. We’re very excited as this will allow us to further increase our involvement in the podcasting community, a very important part of the work that we’re doing at Southern Skies Online Media.

Flying Down Under also gets its own site

As we did with the Australia Desk segment, we have created a web site for the Flying Down Under segment that we produce fortnightly for the FlightTime Radio show.

The site provides an archive of these segments and allow quick reference for people wanting to check out our work. You can find the archive at:

The Australia Desk gets its own site

For over a year we have been producing the Australia Desk segment for the Airplane Geeks podcast. In fact, the Plane Crazy Down Under podcast grew out of the Australia Desk work that Steve & Grant were doing.

To help provide an archive of these segments and allow quick reference for people wanting to check out our work, we have set up an online collection of all the Australia Desk segments. You can find it at:

Introducing “Flying Down Under” on Flight Time Radio

We are proud to announce the introduction of a new segment called “Flying Down Under.” Produced every two weeks for Milford & Charlie at the Flight Time Radio show, the segment provides information about flying aircraft here in Australia. Where our Australia Desk segement for the Airplane Geeks podcast focuses primarily on Airline and Military aviation, the “Flying Down Under” segment covers Recreational Aviation, General Aviation, warbirds, antiques and history.

Flight Time Radio is broadcast every Saturday morning on radio WBOB in Jacksonville, Florida, USA. It also appears on Flight Line Internet Radio, a streaming radio station dedicated to aviation news and shows with a variety of music. This will certainly help boost awareness of the Plane Crazy Down Under show and our content, so we’re very happy that Milford & Charlie have offered us this chance to create content for their show.

Introducing PCDU Commentaries

We’ve added a blog for the Plane Crazy Down Under team to use when making their comments & observations about the aviation industry & environment down under. Called PCDU Commentaries, it’s where we’ll post our thoughts about aviation that arise as we read the news, interview people and produce the show.

To kick things off, we’ve rolled in some articles that Grant wrote on his Fly Me Friendly blog along with a couple of new ones only found at PCDU Commentaries.

We hope you’ll check it out and subscribe to its RSS feed.
